On Sunday 10th March 35 gymnasts from our Advanced Recreation program and our boys and girls recreation program were selected to represent Sugarloaf Gymnastics at Gymnastics Ireland’s first ever GymSTART Challenge Competition. This is the first year that this has been a competition, previously there had only been GymSTART Participation events held so it was a fantastic opportunity for our gymnasts to experience a real competition at the super National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown, which is also home to the National Gymnastics Training Centre. Over 500 gymnasts competed across 4 levels and multiple age groups in the hopes of winning titles on Floor, Vault and the All Around competition.
After weeks of hard work in preparation for the event on their routines our gymnasts made us extremely proud showcasing their excellent work on floor and vault. Each of them, ranging in age from 7 up to 14, showed great confidence, poise and team spirit with every performance. Each gymnast was awarded a participation medal and we also had a large number of medal placings and 4th – 6th place highly commended All Around placings.

Special mentions must go to some particular gymnasts. Eva Carey scored a perfect 10 on Vault, Amelia Cheevers had the third highest score All Around among all of the 500+ gymnasts competing while Mia Cullinane, Georgia Hogan and Ciara Bright also ranked within the top 25 highest scoring All Around placings.
