Adult Gymnastics is back this Thursday, January 8th at 8.15 – 9.30pm.
It’s hard to believe that we launched our first ever Adult Gymnastics a year ago in January 2014! With the New Year just begun, now is the time to try something new, challenge yourself and try Adult Gymnastics class! If you’re unsure about it, read on!
Who is Adult Gymnastics for?
The class is for both Men and Women aged 18+. We cater for all standards, from absolute beginner to ex-gymnasts and coaches and always encourage our participants to take the class at their own pace. Our current members age range is from 19 year olds to those in their 40’s, men and women. We have several ex-gymnasts in class who love to continue to work their skills, without the pressure of competitions or deadlines!
We must emphasise that no experience is necessary, many of our current members have come through our doors, very shy, having never done a tumble before and after the first class or after a couple of weeks have left having performed a cartwheel, handstand or a front somersault! We also have had many adults attend class who have definitely missed their true calling as a gymnast!
Why do Adult Gymnastics?
The benefits of gymnastics are endless. Here are just a few benefits:
- You will notice an improvement in your flexibility, strength, fitness, co-ordination and mental focus
- You will learn to laugh at yourself
- You will learn new skills
- You will use muscles you have never used before
- You will earn a great sense of self achievement
- You will challenge yourself
What happens in a typical class?
One thing that you can be guaranteed is a lot of laughter for sure!
Our class kicks off at 8.15pm with a cardio warm up with some body conditioning mixed in. We then spend a couple of minutes stretching out to prepare for working on the apparatus. We spread our time out between all of the apparatus; Bars, Beam, Vault and Trampette and spend the other half of the class working on Floor and Airtrack. We finish off with a gentle stretch and cool down at the end and finish class at 9.30pm.
What do I wear?
No leotards necessary! We recommend shorts, leggings, tracksuit bottoms and t-shirts. Note that during January the gym is a lot colder than other months so we advise layering up until you are warmed up sufficiently.
How do I sign up?
