On Saturday September 6th we presented our annual trophies for Club Person of the Year and Most Improved Gymnast. These trophies are eligible to be won by any member of our Squad class. Our Squad girls and their family give huge commitment and dedication to their training and train all year long with only short breaks at Christmas and during the summer.
Hannah Johnston – Club Person of the Year 2013 – 2014
Hannah Johnston was presented with the trophy for Club Person of the Year 2013 – 2014. Hannah is a dedicated member of our coaching team balancing her coaching, training and studying so well. She is an excellent and kind coach, qualified and experienced gymnastics judge, a pleasure to teach and a fantastic role model for all of our gymnasts to aspire to be. Hannah coaches recreation classes on Thursdays and Saturdays before commencing her own training. She has also judged for Sugarloaf and on behalf of other clubs at Regional and National competitions. Hannah’s sheer dedication and commitment to Sugarloaf is something to be admired.
Alice Fitzgerald – Most Improved Gymnast of the Year 2013 – 2014
Alice Fitzgerald was presented with the trophy for Most Improved Gymnasts 2013 – 2014. Alice has increased her training hours since January of this year and always puts in 100% to her training. She is dedicated to her training and conditioning at home, always has positive can- do attitude, a fantastic work ethic and has upgraded many of her skills during the year. It is rare that Alice would miss a training session. She was also crowned as the Irish National All Around Level 9 U13 Champion this year and won several medals and titles at regional level also. She also qualified through to all of the apparatus finals at the WAG Level 9 National Championships but was unable to attend to to prior commitments, we have no doubt that she would have made a clean sweep on the medals board if able to compete!
Most Improved Medals
We also presented Most Improved Medals to gymnasts in our other Squad groups. Those chosen were: Emma Walsh (Squad 2), Sasha Sweeney (Squad 3) and Samarah Rahman (Squad 4).
Congratulations to all of the Squad gymnasts for working so hard through the 2013 – 2014 season.
